Tipton County Foundation continues to support the Encore Center

The Encore Lifestyle and Enrichment Center, Tipton County’s senior services organization, continues to receive operational support from the Tipton County Foundation. In fact, the Foundation has been electing to support the Encore Center for more than 30 years. The partnership between the Encore Center and the Foundation has significantly strengthened in recent years in response to program growth and management of the Encore Center.

The Encore Center operates a social engagement/activities program and a transportation service for Tipton County’s actively aging population. These programs and services are largely focused on the 60 years and older population.

The Encore Center’s Activities Program continues to grow. Common activities taking place within the walls of the Center include: art sessions, euchre games, farkle, puzzles, and BINGO on Fridays, a local favorite! The Activities Program also includes educational seminars on health, finances, insurance, etc. Lastly, Excursions with Encore is a very popular piece to the Activities Program. Excursions take place each month and include trips to museums, sporting events, agritourism locations, live theatre, and many more fun and exciting places.

The Encore Express transportation service, Encore’s largest program, experienced tremendous growth from 2015 to 2019. Individual ride counts went from 1,559 (2015) to 5,947 (2019)! The Encore Center has two buses, both equipped with a wheelchair lift, that operate from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday each week. The primary purpose of the service is to assist older adults with basic living needs and promote independence for those utilizing the service. Common destinations include: medical appointments, pharmacy, grocery store, bank, hair salon, etc.

“The Encore Center has a bright future” says Cara Kellerman, Executive Director of the Encore Center.
