Your gift to help establish this new park feature can be matched!

Beginning in the Spring of 2010, and hopefully finished by Ducky Day, August 29, an eight foot wide, half mile asphalt trail will be developed in Tipton Park, following the red pathway in the illustration shown above. Signs, mileage markers, and overlook areas along the creek will be part of this trail system.

The City of Tipton Park Board has received major funding for this first phase of multi-purpose trails from the Indiana department of natural resources. This concept was a key part of the five-year park improvement plan that grew out of community surveys and strategic thinking by local officials.

Tipton city budget and EDIT money and the Tipton Hospital Foundation provide most of the required local match to leverage the state grant.

To complete the financing of phase I, and lay the groundwork for phase II or other Tipton Park improvements, the Tipton County Foundation will provide $2 for every $1 contributed by individuals to the special Park Trails fund at TCF. Your tax-deductible $33 contribution would become $100!*

Every age group will value this amenity. As the map shows, this first trail connects the park shelter house and parking lot to the Tipton County Fairgrounds, with Tipton Hospital and the nearby assisted living facilities en route. There will be a bike rack and a canoe launch site as well. Walkers, joggers, bike-riders, and wheelchair users will all be welcome. Safe skaters and golf cart drivers can use the trail too.

The blue dots on the map are preliminary indications for phase II, which will provide access from the park’s north entrance. The Tipton Park Improvement Fund (544) also includes segments that donors may specify for maintenance of the Gazebo and the Christmas Lights in the Park.

*Contributions have already come in... and been matched $2 for each $1 given:$1,622.50 Donated + $3,244 Tipton County Foundation Match = $4,866.50

Goals: $6,250 or more in donations, $12,500 from TCF... at least $18,750 to Complete Phase I
