Connecting personal values to high
impact opportunities
The Tipton County Foundation awards
grants to programs and community organizations for projects that not only
address the common good, but the areas of specific interest to donors, as well.
For those who are passionate about a
particular cause, Field of Interest Funds provide strategic, lasting
support—even as needs change over time. Contributions to Field of Interest Funds
allow donors to target gifts to causes important to them.
These funds
each provide a special pool of money that can support Foundation grants to
organizations that support the cause mentioned, without giving control of the
total fund to any particular agency.

lifestyle

Robert and Ibby Schram Education
Fund (#507) • Provides Support for Education Projects (not college
scholarships).
Women’s Fund (#560)
• This collaboration of women of all generations works together to create
a stronger community,
where
women and girls are empowered to reach their full potential. Women share time,
talent and treasure, and offer grants to support programs focused on the needs
of Tipton County women.
Arts & Cultural Interests Fund (#561) •
Life-transforming experiences of art appreciation, music, and theater can be
made more affordable and available to all. Projects can include: concerts,
matching grants for programs from the regional arts council, subsidies of field
trip costs for students, or honoraria for guest artists at community events.
Developmental Disabilities Program Fund (#565) •
When the Tipton County ARC ceased operations in 2009, they
entrusted
to TCF the care and future growth of the nest egg they had developed after years
of fundraising and grants to assist special education teachers, organizations
like Janus Development Centers, and such programs as the Special Olympics.
Contributions from people and groups to sustain this support will grow this Fund
for permanent benefits for our neighbors with special needs.
Senior Citizen Program Fund (#570) • Our
fastest growing population segment, committed citizens, proud neighbors, with
issues of health care, economic vitality, and productive ways to use their
skills and knowledge. This fund will make money available for enriching
seminars, trips, equipment, and other projects.

Each year, the
Foundation applies some of the earnings from its investments to the various
individual Funds that have been established at TCF since its founding in 1986.
Primarily, this is “operating money.” Each Fund can use these earnings for the
grants it makes to fulfill its intended purposes. Most of the Funds at TCF are
“Endowed,” made up of donations that can never be spent. These endowments
receive an extra payout from the Foundation’s earnings to help them accumulate
and not lose value to inflation over time.
In the list above, a Fund with the designation,
“NE” is Not Endowed. This means that the full amount of the contributions made
could eventually be withdrawn for the intended purpose. This is useful for a
building fund, for example, or for short-term projects. At the end of each
listing, the bracketed [number] is the reference number the Foundation uses in
accounting for that Fund.
