The Tipton County Foundation, the local Community Foundation, is a tax-exempt, nonprofit, autonomous, publicly supported, nonsectarian philanthropic institution. Founded in 1986 and guided by civic-spirited Volunteers, its long-term goal is the building of permanent, named component funds established by many separate donors to carry out their charitable intent. The Foundation exists for the broad-based philanthropic interests of and community benefit of residents of the defined geographic area of Tipton County, Indiana.Resource Development TCF accepts and administers a diversity of gift and fund types to meet the varied philanthropic objectives of donors and to secure discretionary resources to address the changing needs of the community it serves. TCF works to develop broad support, contributions from many separate, unrelated donors with diverse charitable interests in the community. TCF gift and fund acceptance policies are available for discussion by appointment. Stewardship and Accountability prudently managing funds and maintaining accurate financial records. TCF is accountable to the community it serves and regularly disseminates information on its programs and finances. TCF honors the charitable intentions of its donors, consistent with community needs and applicable laws and regulations. TCF maintains a balance between donor involvement and governing board control and complies with all applicable laws and regulations. TCF ensures that the foundation's financial resources are used solely in furtherance of its mission. It ensures sound oversight and transparency of its investment and spending policies. The Foundation has an annual audit that is performed by an independent public accountant, reviewed and accepted by the governing body, and made available to the public upon request. Grantmaking and Community Leadership TCF operates a broad grants program to multiple grantees that is not limited to a single focus or cause or exclusively to the interests of a particular constituency. TCF awards some grants from its discretionary resources through open, competitive processes that address the changing needs of the community. TCF widely disseminates grant procedures to ensure the fullest possible participation from the community. TCF performs due diligence to ensure that grants will be used for charitable purposes. TCF identifies and addresses community issues and opportunities and works to serve as a leader and convener of community leadership. TCF is committed to helping more students graduate from college with less debt. Rising costs are closing doors to higher education for many individuals in our community. Through the Tipton County Foundation, local Dollars for Scholars® chapters at Tipton and Tri-Central high schools, and other organizations, we make a strong, collective statement about the importance of education beyond high school. We help provide both encouragement and financial support for local students. Communications & Donor Relations Donor Privacy Policy • TCF keeps all private information obtained with respect to donors and prospects confidential to the fullest extent possible. The Tipton County Foundation does not sell, loan, or trade their donors' personal or contact information with anyone else, nor send mailings on behalf of individuals, causes, or organizations that do not have a fund established in the Foundation. There is a more detailed policy on Confidentiality that may be discussed upon request. TCF communicates openly and transparently on a regular basis. The Foundation educates and engages donors in identifying and addressing community issues and grantmaking opportunities. TCF promptly and accurately acknowledges gifts. TCF provides fund statements to those donors who have established component funds. Through philanthropic donor services, strategic grantmaking, and constructive leadership, the Tipton County Foundation, your hometown community foundation, unites the gifts of many to sustain the causes that matter to all— now, and for all generations to come.
